China will allocate 432 million yuan ($60 million) in flood relief funds to support agricultural output hit by heavy rainfall in eight provinces including Hebei, the agriculture ministry said on Wednesday.The fund is for replanting crops in flooded areas and purchasing goods to resume agricultural production, said the notification on the ministry's website.

On July 27, 2023, in Ivano-Frankivsk region, with the assistance of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), in accordance with the implementation of the Ukrainian Project TCP/URK/3802 "Emergency Assistance to Improve Preparedness to Respond to Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza Outbreaks in Ukraine", a technical audit and advice on improving the biosecurity system was conducted for small poultry farm owners, as well as training for industry representatives to disseminate best biosecurity practices.

Researchers are warning that, even with control measures quickly put in place, the U.S. pig industry would be impacted significantly by an outbreak of African swine fever, a disease likely to present a mortality rate of up to 100 percent among infected pigs. An outbreak could cost as much as $80 billion as it spreads through the southeastern U.S., the new study in Preventive Veterinary Medicine finds. Worse, because infected animals may be asymptomatic, the disease could quickly spread from farm to farm before it is detected.

The World Farmers’ Organisation (WFO), which represents over 1.2 billion farmers worldwide, has taken a resolute stand against adopting lab-grown food as an alternative to the food resulting from the work of farmers.
