According to State Statistics Service, in January 2016 Ukrainian meat processors have produced 17.4 thsd tons of fresh and chilled pork and 1.2 thsd tons of frozen. Achieved volumes are a bit smaller than in January last year.

During the period under review, increases were seen in production of frozen poultry meat and beef. In the first month of 2016 this production was produced twice as many as the corresponding period last year.

In 2015, results of meat-processing industry were almost the same as in 2014: 1.57 mln tons of meat and meat products. But the significant changes in demand activity and consumer preferences have affected the production profile.

In 2015 the share of pork and poultry increased in total meat and meat products production. It happened amid the share decrease of beef, sausages, ready-made and canned products, especially because of pork output rate increase by 15.5 thsd tones (to 273 thsd tons). Its share rose from 16.4% to 17.33%. The pork and poultry processing grew by 1% year over year. Poultry meat took the lead in volumes with 56% of total meat production.

The sausage production continued to decrease. That’s why during the last year it lost 10% of production more. Liver and liver products fabrication increased by 8.7%.

Changes in production structure show that population prefer cheaper sausages or meat basically.
