The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has amended the Procedure for Providing Microgrants for Starting or Developing a Business. The innovations expand the possibilities for using grant funds, reduce the number of documents required to be submitted to the bank to confirm expenses, abolish the maximum amount of grants to be provided during one application period, and clarify a number of provisions for veteran entrepreneurs, which simplify the receipt and use of grant funds. The Government adopted the relevant decision at a meeting on November 7, 2023.

"The government has allowed entrepreneurs to use grant funds not only to lease non-residential premises, but also land plots to be used for commercial and industrial purposes. The decree also abolished the maximum amount of grants to be provided during one application period. From now on, decisions on all positive results will be made within one wave without postponement to the next wave. This should accelerate the receipt of grant funds by entrepreneurs and subsequently the creation of new jobs," explains Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine Tetiana Berezhna.

In addition, according to her, the number of documents that entrepreneurs must submit to an authorized bank to pay for expenses with grant funds has also decreased. Previously, invoices and a contract between the recipient and the supplier had to be submitted, but now only one of these two documents will be required.

The government's decision also clarifies the amount of grants and the corresponding required number of new jobs for combatants, people with disabilities and their families.

"They added the possibility for veteran entrepreneurs to receive a grant of up to UAH 500 thousand, because before that only the second spouse could receive it. The mandatory condition of co-financing for grants of up to UAH 500 thousand was also canceled. From now on, veteran entrepreneurs will only need to use their own or credit funds when receiving a maximum grant amount of UAH 500 thousand to UAH 1 million," explained Tetiana Berezhna.
