Dmytro Rozhko visited several farms in northern California to discuss the opportunities and challenges facing agriculture in the US.
«This is an incredible opportunity for us to learn from the experience of our American colleagues. They face similar problems as we do, but their approach to solving these problems is worthy of attention. For example, farmers here note that it is becoming increasingly difficult for small and medium-sized farms to compete with giants that have more resources and opportunities. This issue is also relevant for Ukraine,» said Dmitry.
He also drew attention to the difficulties faced by American farmers due to high labour costs and regulatory restrictions, in particular on slaughter, which often forces California farmers to send pigs to other states for slaughter due to a lack of certified slaughterhouses.
In addition, Dmitry Rozhko is considering establishing partnerships with American farmers to develop joint business.
«I see huge potential in cooperation with American colleagues. This could be a new step for the development of the Ukrainian pig industry,» he said.
Dmytro Rozhko will share more details about this, as well as his impressions of the American farming culture, the most interesting innovations and approaches that may be useful for Ukrainian pig producers, in a series of materials. So, follow our publications to learn more about the experience gained and the opportunities that international partnerships open up for the Ukrainian pig industry.
