Production of gross livestock products in Ukraine in 2023 will decrease by 2.2% compared to last year.

This forecast was voiced by scientists of the Institute of Agrarian Economics.

Thus, the production of poultry meat will increase against the previous year by 1.1% - up to 1.7 million tons.

«Such growth is expected against the background of a significant decrease in this type of products — almost 8% - in 2022 mainly as a result of military operations in Ukraine,» said the director of the NSC IAE, academician of the NAAS Yuri Lupenko.

At the same time, other types of production are predicted to decrease, most of all in sheep breeding. In particular, wool production is expected to decrease by 30%.

According to the estimates of scientists, a decrease in production will also occur in the production of cattle and pigs, milk and eggs. However, for the main products — milk, eggs, pig meat — it will remain at the level of prewar trends — in the range of 2−3%.

«More significant will be a decrease in the production of growing cattle — almost 12%,» the scientists predict.
