Last week's auction ended with a revision of the purchase price of live pigs by 2.5-4 UAH/kg ($0,06-0,09) upwards, so most of the commercial ones were purchased this week at 58-60 UAH/kg ($1,43-1,48). At the same time, the maximum price level was more common in the western regions, while occasional offers below the minimum were made in the eastern regions and occasionally in the centre. The weighted average purchase price was 58.7 UAH/kg ($1,45), up 6.6% from the previous week's level.
This week, meat processing operators describe sales as relatively stable, although sales volumes are lower than expected. The power outage is still affecting the volume of orders from end-users and meat processing plants, but most market players have already adapted to the new realities and are working as planned. A survey of procurers showed that the impact of seasonal factors on pork supply is not yet "fully felt". At the same time, there are more and more reports of lower average slaughter weights or smaller volumes of consignments, and in some cases, forced delays in shipments due to slower animal growth. In addition, meat processors note that the supply of large pigs has become significantly less noticeable. As a result, some meat processors expect prices to continue to rise, albeit at a slower pace.
