The Russian invasion of Ukraine has caused enormous direct and indirect losses in the agricultural sector. According to preliminary estimates, the agribusiness sector has suffered more than $ 4 billion in direct losses. Indirect losses total more than $ 35 billion.

«Since the preliminary inspection, indirect losses have increased by $ 10 billion to $ 35 billion. This means that agrarians have not sown winter crops, accordingly, will not harvest next summer, even in deoccupied territories. These losses will be fixed»,  First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Taras Vysotsky said during the broadcast of informational marathon on Rada TV channel.

He added that indirect losses are also influenced by the energy crisis caused by bombardments and complicated logistics, which resulted in decrease of prices for Ukrainian products and accordingly — the producers will not profit. Therefore, Ukraine together with international experts is fixing the evidence of crimes related to the theft of Ukrainian agricultural products, deliberate destruction of civilian infrastructure related to the production and distribution of food.

«Destroyed resources will be evaluated at their book value. And the machinery could still drive, but it is already necessary to buy a new one. Unfortunately, the multiplier is negative. We hope for a positive decision of the UN on reparations. We are sure that Ukrainian farmers will be able to compensate for all the losses, » the deputy minister added.
