Over the past few weeks, a record price divergence between commodity pigs in Europe and the U.S. has been discussed. Spain (Europe's largest producer) has set a new record price for pigs at 1.89 euros/kg live weight — 92 cents/lb. The price in the U.S. is now 59 cents per pound live weight. The price difference between Spain and the U.S. for a 280 lb. market pig is $ 92.

This is the opinion expressed by Gensus Inc. president and CEO, Jim Long, in his latest report.
