In Ukraine with the beginning of the war the food prices rose by 20% due to a number of reasons. This was stated by Denis Marchuk, deputy chairman of the All-Ukrainian Association of War Agencies, during his broadcast at the Media Center Ukraine-Ukrinform on August 22.

Meanwhile, the prices of vegetables are constrained by the seasonal factor. A price increase of 10-15% is possible in late fall. Prices will be pressed by inflation, disruption of logistics chains, rising fuel prices, the cost of energy and storage costs.

"The issue of food prices is very important for Ukrainian families. The population spends more than 50% of its income on food. Inflation, war, disruption of logistics chains, rising fuel prices - these are the components that shape food pricing. Since the war began, commodity prices have risen more than 20 percent. It is now August, the vegetable harvest season, so we are seeing a decrease in cost due to increased supply. Potatoes cucumbers tomatoes and other vegetables have fallen in price, the seasonal factor will last until October. Given that a certain number of Ukrainians have gone abroad, this has also contributed to lower prices of seasonal vegetables. But in autumn the expenses for storage of vegetables will increase, so we should expect a price increase of 10-15% for all groups after October", Denys Marchuk said.
