In the third decade of July, the decline in prices for slaughterhouse pigs continued, according to the results of the weekly monitoring of purchase prices by the analytical department of the Association of Ukrainian Pig Breeders.

Last Friday's tense price negotiations ended with a further ‘sinking’ of quotations on the live pig market. So this week, most consignments were purchased at 45-49 UAH/kg, although there were some lower and higher prices. At the same time, the heterogeneity of supply and demand for pork in different regions of the country led to a more significant divergence in prices. Thus, prices in the western regions were slightly higher than in the rest of Ukraine. The weighted average market price stood at 48.5 UAH/kg, down 6.7% from the previous week.

The expectations of meat processing operators regarding further price dynamics are currently divided: some believe that prices will remain at the current level, while others are optimistic about their recovery. At the same time, this week's sales are described as more balanced, and feedback on the available supply ranges from ‘excessive’ to ‘balanced’. At the same time, procurers are unanimous in saying that price cuts generally do not improve the situation for either producers or processors, as they do not stimulate trading activity.

The results of the weekly monitoring of purchase prices from processors can be found in this section.
