A New Procedure for Veterinary Pharmacological Supervision will be Launched in Ukraine

The Ministry of Agrarian Policy is introducing a new procedure for pharmacological supervision of the circulation of veterinary medicines. The relevant order of the Ministry No. 1397 "On Approval of Certain Regulatory Acts on the Circulation of Veterinary Medicines" was adopted. The document was adopted in accordance with the implementation of the Association Agreement with the EU. 

The new procedure will facilitate the entry into the domestic market and circulation of high-quality, safe and effective veterinary medicines. It will have a positive impact on food safety and the health of productive and non-productive animals. 

Also, citizens whose health has deteriorated after contact with veterinary medicines will be able to report side effects of such medicines to the National System of Veterinary Pharmacological Surveillance. 

The Order also sets forth the requirements 

  • qualifications of the person responsible for the production and import of veterinary medicines;
  • to the procedure for veterinary pharmacological supervision;
  • to the form and content of the description of the corporate pharmacovigilance system for each veterinary medicinal product put into circulation;
  • to the good practice of pharmacovigilance of veterinary medicinal products.

The Order shall come into force simultaneously with the entry into force of the Law of Ukraine "On Veterinary Medicine" (No. 1206-IX of February 04, 2021). The law shall enter into force one year after the date of termination or abolition of martial law.
