The Ministry of Agrarian Policy officially resumed operations on July 21, 2026 — exactly one year after it was abolished on July 21, 2025.
The Verkhovna Rada approved the restoration of a separate agricultural ministry on July 16, 2026, during the formation of the new Cabinet of Ministers.
The ministry was restored following the division of the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture into two separate central executive authorities — the Ministry of Economy and Environment and the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food.
Prime Minister of Ukraine Serhii Koretskyi had previously proposed this restructuring. One of the main reasons for separating the responsibilities was the need to strengthen the agricultural component of Ukraine’s European integration process.
The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food is headed by Taras Vysotsky. Before his appointment, he served as Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture.
Vysotsky had previously served as First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food and was acting minister in 2024.
This is not the first time Ukraine has restored a separate agricultural ministry. In 2019, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy was abolished as part of a reform of central executive authorities. At the end of 2020, the government decided to re-establish the ministry, and from 2021 it once again operated as an independent central executive body.
