The Czech Republic confirmed its first case of African swine fever for the first time in almost five years and veterinarians were taking measures to prevent its spread, the Czech Ministry of Agriculture said on Friday.

Thus, the implementation of the Agreement on access of Ukrainian goods to the EU market (ACAA) is accelerated.

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) together with the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food are implementing a program to provide farmers with temporary grain storage equipment (grain sleeves). Thanks to the support of the governments of Canada, Japan, and Minderoo Foundation, Ukrainian farmers will receive more than 30,000 grain sleeves with a capacity of 200 tons, which covers 30% of the national deficit of granaries.

There is currently a shortage of veterinarians in Germany. Of the approximately 22,000 veterinarians currently practicing in Germany (including around 12,000 practice owners and 10,000 salaried veterinarians), only around 3,500 are still treating farm animals. 

Pigs are sensitive to high temperatures. If the room where the animals are kept is poorly ventilated in summer, it will have a negative impact on the health and production performance of pigs.

Both in peacetime and when warfare, biosecurity remains a priority for pig farms. Without a well-functioning system the farm cannot be protected against pathogens, including African swine fever.

International partners are co-financing the purchase of polymeric sleeves and structures for grain storage, as well as equipment to load grain into the sleeves, many of which will be suitable for reuse during future harvests.

Two enterprises «Elit-Schweine» LLC and Expert-AgroTrade LLC have joined the Association of Ukranian Pig Breeders.
