On 25–26 June, Kyiv hosted the second round of practical training sessions for pig and cattle producers as part of the USAID-funded Enhancing Public Health and Epidemiological Control (EpiC) project, with the participation of the Association of Ukrainian Pig Breeders (AUPB). The training focused on implementing practical approaches to animal health management and the responsible use of antibiotics on farms.

During the training, participants reviewed the results of their homework assignments, shared experiences of implementing changes on their farms, and explored practical tools to help reduce the need for antibiotic use.

Dedicated sessions focused on veterinary medicine record-keeping, disease prevention, biosecurity, and vaccination. The practical component included teamwork on real-life farm scenarios, during which participants developed disease outbreak response plans and strategies for responsible antibiotic use on their farms.

The training formed part of the nationwide series of activities under the Enhancing Public Health and Epidemiological Control (EpiC) project, funded by the U.S. Department of State and aimed at promoting the responsible use of antimicrobials and the One Health approach.

The next stage of the training programme will take place on 2–3 July in Rivne, where the sessions will be held for representatives of territorial communities. Participants will learn practical tools for risk communication, raising awareness about the responsible use of antibiotics, and combating antimicrobial resistance (AMR) at the local level.

Participation in the training is free of charge; however, the number of places is limited.
