This is one aspect of the «Ensuring Animal Health in Ukraine» project, which the Association of Ukranian Pig Breeders is implementing with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). Leading domestic experts in cooperation with specialists of the competent authority will teach best practices and work algorithms.

The war significantly increases the burden on the agricultural markets, especially in regions with many internally displaced people or in the de-occupied areas. Therefore, the project planned practical exercises in five regions of Ukraine in order to practice the algorithm of actions in case of suspicion of infectious or invasive diseases during the veterinary and sanitary examination of livestock products.

«Agro-industrial markets are powerful distribution channels where double slaughter pig products are mostly sold. This makes them a weak point in the system of control and prevention of epizootic spread. The higher the qualifications of the veterinary-sanitary examination laboratory workers, the lower the risks. Therefore, training at this stage is extremely important», commented the industry association.

The Association of Ukranian Pig Breeders is a nonprofit, voluntary organization founded by domestic pork producers. The main objectives of the association are representation and protection of rights and interests of the association farms, assistance in development and implementation of new technologies for the efficient production of pork, expansion of markets, protection of domestic sales market.
