The events brought together representatives of local governments, village elders, social and education sector professionals, and members of civil society organizations working directly with local communities.
The training sessions focused primarily on risk communication and practical tools for engaging with animal owners. Participants discussed common mistakes in antibiotic use in household farming, ways to disseminate information on responsible animal treatment, and the role of communities in promoting safe animal husbandry practices.
A separate session was dedicated to antimicrobial resistance as one of the major global challenges for both human and animal health. Participants examined real-life situations faced by animal owners and developed approaches for effectively communicating the importance of consulting veterinary professionals and using antibiotics responsibly.
The practical component of the training included interactive exercises and case-study work, allowing participants to strengthen their communication skills and develop solutions for typical community-level situations.
The organizers emphasized that territorial communities can play a crucial role in spreading knowledge about responsible antibiotic use and preventing the development of antimicrobial resistance at the local level.
The next series of EpiC training events will take place in Lviv on June 16–18 and will bring together representatives of the livestock industry, territorial communities, and specialists from the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection.
