In January–September 2026, Brazil exported 1.192 million tonnes of pork and pork products, 6.2% more than in the same period last year. Export revenue increased by 1.3% to $2.737 billion, according to the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA).

Exports declined in September, however. Brazil shipped 135,000 tonnes of pork to international markets during the month, 11% less than in September 2025. Export revenue fell by 21.5% to $289.3 million.

The Philippines remained the largest market in September, with shipments totalling 25,700 tonnes, although exports there fell by 47.7%. By contrast, exports to Japan increased by 38.9% to 15,900 tonnes, while shipments to Chile rose by 72% to 14,400 tonnes.

China imported 11,400 tonnes of Brazilian pork (-16.4%), while Vietnam purchased 7,400 tonnes (-23.2%). At the same time, shipments increased significantly to Argentina (+73.8%), the Dominican Republic (+53.6%), Peru (+104.6%) and South Africa (+99.4%).

Malaysia, a newly opened market for Brazilian pork, imported 1,900 tonnes in September.

ABPA President Ricardo Santin noted that despite the weaker September performance, the year-to-date trend remains positive: average monthly exports exceed 130,000 tonnes, while growth in shipments to Japan, Chile and Argentina, together with access to the Malaysian market, confirms the continued diversification of Brazil’s pork exports.
