According to the results of the first winter month, the Ukrainian have consumed more pork than poultry. It is reported by analytical department of the Association of Ukrainian Pig Breeders on the Economic Discussion Club submissions of updated supply and demand balance of meat and meat products.
As of the 1-st February pork and pork products consumption fund was equal to 100 ths. tones while index on poultry was lesser by 5%. Situation with production of mentioned meat is quite the opposite. But active chicken exports decreased availability of this type of meat on the domestic market.
We remind that pork and chicken continue to "compete" for a consumer. However, due to the weak solvency of the population, the main parameter of choice is no nutritional value and taste of meat but its value. Price weakening for pork and simultaneous price rise for chicken of the last year forced pork now to be more popular among the population, moreover its consumption resumed and reached 19.4 kg/ year per person.
Association of Ukrainian Pig Breeders — is a non-profit, voluntary organization. Established in July 14-th, 2011. At present, AUPB unites 35 farms, breeding stock of which amounts to 35% of the national volume. The main objective of the Association is to protect rights and interests of pig enterprises, achieve international standards of production due to implementation of modern technologies.
