State Consumer Service: Implementation of European standards in Ukrainian food products

Food safety directly depends on their composition and the State Service for Food and Consumer Protection together with the Ministry of Health and the WHO continues fruitful work to ensure European standards in the field of production.

Thus, the webinar "Elimination of industrially produced trans fats from national food products in Ukraine by developing national laboratory capacities in Ukraine", organized by the WHO office in Ukraine, took place on 5 December. The participants included representatives of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, WHO Regional Office for Europe and the State Food and Consumer Service of Ukraine, namely Olga Semenchuk, Deputy Director of the Department of Food Safety, Veterinary Medicine and Control of Organic Production - Head of the Department of Organic Food Safety in Ukraine.

The event gave an overview of the WHO action package for elimination of industrially produced trans fats from the global food supply chain, assessment of the laboratory capacity and capacity building in the WHO European Region, as well as a discussion on the national legislation of Ukraine on elimination and monitoring of trans fats.
