Seeds from FAO: More Than 2,000 Farmers Applied

More than 2.5 thousand farmers have applied for seed support from the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) as of Tuesday, March 7. This is reported by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.

The State Agricultural Registry (SAR) continues to collect applications for assistance from FAO under two programs:

The EU Funding Grant Support Program, which aims to provide investment grant assistance to micro and small agricultural producers, cooperatives and associations of producers of geographical indications (GIs). Agricultural producers from Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Transcarpathian and part of Chernivtsi regions can participate in the program. The grants range from $1,000 to $25,000. About 400 small agro-producers have been registered as of March 7, but they need to have the necessary documents completed before they can participate in the program.

The program for the provision of spring crop seeds (wheat, barley, peas) to support small farmers in the frontline regions, namely Sumy, Chernihiv, Donetsk, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhia, Mykolaiv, Kherson and Odessa. Legal entities and individual entrepreneurs with registered farmland from 10 to 500 hectares can take part in the program. The volume of provided assistance is 2 tons of spring crop seeds per farm of choice depending on the region.
