Over the course of two days, participants will discuss antimicrobial resistance not only as a veterinary medicine issue, but also as a challenge that can be addressed at the community level. Particular attention will be paid to antibiotic use in households, common mistakes in animal treatment and the importance of consulting a veterinarian.
The practical part of the training will focus on communication with the public. Community representatives will work through real-life situations, learn how to explain the risks of improper antibiotic use in clear and simple terms, respond to common myths and communicate practical recommendations to animal owners.
The trainings in Vinnytsia will conclude the series of regional sessions for community representatives held in different cities across Ukraine over the past several months. Their goal is not only to raise participants’ awareness of AMR, but also to help them pass this knowledge on directly to community residents, encouraging a more responsible approach to the use of antimicrobials.
The trainings are conducted under the Meeting Targets and Maintaining Epidemic Control (EpiC) project, funded by the U.S. Department of State, with the participation of the Association of Ukrainian Pig Breeders.
