Puerto Rico has opened its market for pork produced in Brazil.

«The sale of products equivalent to six containers has been sent to the Puerto Rican market. The country follows the same health legislation applied by the United States, which has opened its doors to Brazilian pork. It is a market for the Brazilian industry, which has sought to expand the range of countries to which it exports, reducing dependence on large buyers,» said Francisco Turra, chief executive of ABPA.

«This is an achievement that will further strengthen the Brazilian industry,» he says.

«Our health status and our current situation in the international market will allow us to work very competitively in Puerto Rico, which now receives Canada’s products and Mexico,» added Ricardo Santin, vice president of ABPA markets.
