According to Cepea, the average price gap between beef and “special pork carcass” in 2025 reached 9.47 Reais/kg. This is 36% higher than in 2024 and 12% higher than in 2023. Still, the indicator remains 25% below the peak level recorded in 2022, when the difference reached 12.64 Reais/kg.
Analysts note that the key factor behind pork’s improved competitiveness is the significant increase in beef prices. On the wholesale market of Greater São Paulo, beef prices at the beginning of 2025 averaged 22.25 Reais/kg — up 16.8% from the previous year. In comparison, the price of special pork carcass increased much more moderately — to 12.78 Reais/kg, a rise of only 5.5% from 2024.
Thanks to the slower price growth, pork is becoming increasingly attractive to Brazilian consumers, particularly in the wholesale segment. Experts predict that if the upward trend in beef prices continues, the pork sector may gain additional competitive advantages both in the domestic market and in export channels.
