At the end of May, prices on the live pig market mostly remained in the price corridor of the previous week - 92-93 UAH/kg. At the same time, the weighted average market price lost 0.6%, settling at 92.7 UAH/kg. This change was due to the revision of the maximum price offers on the market.
Representatives of the meat processing industry point to the relative stability of wholesale prices for pork. Thus, in recent weeks, operators describe the course of trade as consistently sluggish, and also state that demand for conditioned pork corresponds to supply. Given this conditional market balance, most of the procurers expect prices on the pork market to remain unchanged in early summer. At the same time, procurers note that the volumes of live bait available on the market remain rather ‘restrained’, which forces them to adhere to a larger than usual ‘radius’ of purchases, which is not limited to neighbouring regions. Accordingly, a number of processors believe that with the improvement of weather conditions, prices on the live bait market may return to their previous positions.
