According to the data of the Central Statistics Office of Poland, the swine census in June 2014 was 11.724 million animals, which implies an increase by 5.0% with respect to 2013. All the age groups have grown.
Nevertheless, in comparison with the data of June 2013, the structure of the population has undergone the following changes:
- Drop in the population of piglets, 20- to 50-kg pigs, and breeding pigs > 50 kg, including sows.
- The percentage of fattening pigs (≥ 50 kg).
