At the end of May, Poland confirmed its first case of African Swine Fever (ASF) in the Łódź Province. The virus was detected in the carcass of a wild boar found in the municipality of Białaczów, in the village of Kuraszków, near the border with the Mazovian Voivodeship.

The infected animal was a young wild boar, approximately six months old. The carcass was sent for proper disposal in accordance with veterinary regulations.

This case marks the virus's further spread into central Poland and highlights the need for increased vigilance among farmers, hunters, and veterinary authorities. Strict biosecurity measures remain crucial to preventing the spread of ASF to domestic pig populations.
