The European Commission has approved the application to register "Vindelnrökt skinka" as a Protected Geographical Indication (PGI).
"Vindelnrökt skinka" is a whole muscle pork ham traditionally hot-smoked in alder wood-fired smokehouses. It is produced in the Västerbotten region of Sweden. The specific characteristics of "Vindelnrökt skinka" are the result of traditional craftsmanship, quality raw materials, and a special smoking process.
This new designation will join the list of 1,693 already protected products available in the eAmbrosia database.
