In recent days, global quotations for oil and petroleum products have risen significantly, which has already been reflected in prices at Ukrainian filling stations. Currently, the price of diesel fuel ranges from UAH 63.99 to UAH 73.99 per liter, while at the end of February the average price was around UAH 61.60/l.
As part of the investigation, the AMCU has sent requests to market participants requiring them to provide information explaining the reasons for the price increase. After receiving the relevant data, the authority will conduct a prompt analysis and, if signs of violations of competition law are detected, will take appropriate enforcement measures.
At the same time, experts emphasize that there is currently no fuel shortage in Ukraine. According to fuel market expert and founder of the Prime group of companies Dmytro Leushkin, fuel reserves remain sufficient. However, psychological factors and expectations of further price increases are already creating heightened demand in the market, which could trigger panic buying.
Experts predict that if global oil prices remain at their current levels, fuel prices in premium networks could reach around UAH 80 per liter within the next week, while in other networks they may rise to about UAH 75 per liter.
Analysts link the price volatility to the escalating situation in the Middle East, which has affected global energy markets.
