African swine fever (ASF) continues to spread globally, with new outbreaks reported in India, South Korea, Vietnam, as well as in Italy, Romania, and Ukraine.

In South Korea, the latest farm outbreak in Gangwon Province, as reported by Yonhap news agency, has increased the total number of ASF cases in domestic swine to 47. Authorities have imposed a transport ban in the affected area and disinfected 230 farms to prevent further spread.

In India, new ASF outbreaks have been recorded in three northeastern states: Assam, Mizoram, and Nagaland. In Mizoram, approximately 13,800 pigs have died, and over 23,000 have been culled due to the disease.

Vietnam is experiencing more ASF outbreaks this year compared to 2023, with over 63,600 pigs culled as of the end of September to control the spread.

In Europe, Serbia has reported the most outbreaks in domestic pigs, with 261 cases, followed by Romania (164) and Ukraine (62). Ukraine recently confirmed a new outbreak in the Vinnytsia region.

Additionally, ASF outbreaks in wild boar populations continue to rise across 21 European countries, with the highest numbers of cases in Poland and Italy.
