The process of separating the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food from the Ministry of Economy is expected to take approximately 60 days. Until the reorganisation is completed, the agricultural ministry will continue operating within the structure of the Ministry of Economy. Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Taras Vysotskyi said this in an interview with Forbes Ukraine.

According to him, preparing and submitting the relevant resolution will take about two weeks, after which the organisational stage of separating the ministry will begin.

For the Ministry of Agrarian Policy to begin operating under its new structure, at least 30% of its staff must be transferred to the ministry. The separate ministry will also receive the remaining funds allocated in the state budget for agricultural support programmes.

The restoration of an independent agricultural ministry is expected to allow more resources to be focused on sector-specific programmes. Priorities include supporting agricultural producers, particularly businesses operating in frontline regions.

The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food resumed operations as a separate government body on 16 July. Taras Vysotskyi was appointed to head the ministry.
