It is estimated that the production of beef, pork, and poultry carcasses will grow 3.1% at the end of this year. Wholesale and consumer pork prices confirm its competitiveness compared to other animal proteins.

According to the Agrifood Expectations report for the month of August, published by the Agrifood and Fisheries Information Service (SIAP), a general growth of 3.1% is expected for the production of meat carcasses for the main species by the end of 2022. Specifically for pork, production is estimated to reach 1,725,846 tons (t), which would mean an increase of 1.9% compared to 2021 (1,693,007 t).

The report also indicates that the wholesale price, which includes the average of shoulder, fillet, loin, brisket, and leg, was MXN 79.6/kg for the second week of August, representing an annual variation of 3.8%, while the consumer price, which is the average of leg and loin, reached MXN 115.25/kg, which represents an annual growth of 4.7%.
