Polish meat concern Duda, that worked in Ukraine since 2006, reduces its presence in Ukraine. The company sold its meat processing enterprise "Express" in Rivne region, which was acquired in 2007 for 12 million USD. Earlier Duda left the Board of shareholders of pig complex "Zoria", its first Ukrainian asset. Thus, today the Polish giant owns only one company in Ukraine – “Rosan-Agro ", for which Duda paid approximately $6 million in 2007.
The decision to get rid of the Ukrainian assets in the Polish company was explained by the large-scale restructuring. The company" Express "was sold to the Kiev International Investment Holding.
When the Polish concern was entering Ukrainian market, Duda managers declared that they are planning to create an integrated company for animal breeding, meat processing and trading. Also it has been planned that in early 2009 “Rosan-Agro"will IPO on the Warsaw Stock Exchange. However, holding plans have changed. Duda was unable to cope with a large financial burden in Poland.
However, experts point out that reducing the presence of Duda concern in our country does not indicate a loss of interest to Ukraine by foreign investors. "Outflow of foreign investors isn’t observed. Instead, inflow of foreign capital has been intensified recently, particularly in food industry and agriculture”, said managing director of “Dragon Capital” Tomash Fiala.
Significant amount of pork import to Ukraine (more than 100 tons per year) at practically zero export shows a deficit and gives the opportunity to increase production volumes. The attractiveness of this area is confirmed by investment projects implemented in Ukraine. Thus, "APK-Invest" was launched last year - vertically integrated agricultural company, which specializes in refrigerated semis. Total investment in the project is  over 3.5 billion HRN. The main investor is Boris Kolesnikov.
