Italy: ASF now in the Campania Region

This is the fifth region affected by African swine fever (ASF) in the country.

Following the detection of the disease in the regions of Piemonte, Liguria, Lazio, and Calabria, the Italian health authorities have now confirmed the presence of African swine fever (ASF) in the Campania region.

Specifically, ASF was detected in wild boar carcasses found in the municipalities of Sanza (SA) and Montesano sulla Marcellana (SA). The president of the region signed ordinance n. 1 of 26/05/2023, establishing the infected zone in the municipalities of Buonabitacolo, Casalbuono, Casaletto Spartano, Castelle in Pittari, Montesano sulla Marcellana, Monte San Giacomo, Morigerati, Padula, Piaggine, Rofrano, Sala Consilina, Sassano, Sanza, Teggiano, Torraca, Tortorella and Valle dell'Angelo.
