Second meeting of representatives of Working Group on Improvement of Meat Sector Development Policy And Meat Market Grouping took place in Kiev, on August 6th.

During the meeting, participants had a possibility to communicate with Sergii Glushchenko, the head of newly established State service on food service and consumer protection.

He pointed out that the Service had several strands of work at once. In particular, the coordination of law matters of its activity, as the body was recorded recently, July 31st, 2015.

«Other line of activity is the team building. But our resource will be 40% less, compared with our predecessors. The team building of every line is in process now. On final, the funding of structure depends on the quantity of staff and the functionality. One more sizable hurdle is the location area. We’d like to be situated in one geographical area, but it’s impossible. There is no building that would house 320-350 people.

As for the structure, all separate directions will remain the stand-alone structural units: Veterinary, Phytosanitary departments, Health Inspection Services, market control headed by chairman and deputy. The „mirror system“ will work in regions.» — mentioned mr. Glushchenko.

The meeting has continued by discussing the business questions. The participants coordinated the list of working subgroups and appointed the responsible people for task accomplishment. So under the working group will work four subgroups:

  • Strategic development;
  • Building, land and environmental matters:
  • Veterinary regulation in animal farming;
  • Breeding business.

Subgroup leaders will supervise further work on directions. The next meeting is scheduled for October.

Association of Pig Producers of Ukraine is unprofitable, voluntary organization. The creation date is July 14, 2011. Now APPU joins 35 households, the sow herds of which compose 35% of nationwide capacities. The main objective of Association is to protect corporate rights and interests in the field of pigbreeding, to attain the worldwide standards of manufacturing owing to implementation of modern technologies.
