Following the outbreak of war, the FAO has developed and updated its Rapid Response Plan and is calling for $115.4 million to support nearly 1 million people in rural areas through agricultural assistance and food security for those most affected by Russia's military aggression in Ukraine. This is reported by the press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy.

Under this programme, FAO has already provided assistance to 80,000 people in 13 regions of Ukraine and continues to provide multi-purpose cash assistance to cover the basic needs of more than 5,000 families in the most affected regions in eastern and southern Ukraine.

In addition to these activities, FAO is working with the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine to implement a Grain Storage Strategy to address Ukraine's current grain storage deficit in order to provide farmers with the necessary grain storage equipment during 2022-2023. This will enhance food security and protect livelihoods at the domestic and national levels in Ukraine, and ensure that countries dependent on grain imports have access to sufficient grain stocks at an affordable price.
