This will be the focus of a presentation by Vitalii Piotrovych, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and expert in pig health, entitled “Porcine Ileitis — A Modern View of the Infection and Its Control Methods.”
The speaker will examine ileitis not only as a veterinary problem, but also as a factor capable of affecting key production indicators. The presentation will focus on the prevalence of the infection, its clinical forms, its economic significance for farms, and available control methods.
A separate section will be devoted to diagnostics. Visually distinguishing ileitis from other diseases, including the enteric form of porcine circovirus infection, can be difficult. Differential diagnosis and the role of laboratory methods, particularly histological examination, will therefore be an important part of the discussion.
Participants will also learn about different approaches to ileitis control, including the possibilities and limitations of antibiotic therapy, as well as vaccination as an alternative tool within infection prevention and control programmes.
The presentation will be useful for farms seeking not only to respond to clinical signs of disease, but also to identify hidden threats in time — threats that can affect growth rates, feed conversion and overall production performance.
The International Congress “Profitable Pig Production” will take place on 23 September 2026.
