Rural households, small farmers and small agricultural enterprises will benefit from a $15.5 million project funded by the European Union (EU) and implemented by the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). This is reported on the official website of the organization, reports the press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy.

The project will support producers in Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Transcarpathian and part of Chernivtsi regions through the provision of appropriate grants for investment at the level of farms and value chains, combined with the provision of advisory services and advice.

"European Union funding for this FAO project aims to restore or strengthen the pre-war functionality of agricultural value chains. It will address the food needs of the local and internally displaced populations in the West and food security issues in all parts of the country in the short and short term, and will be crucial in preventing a food crisis in 2023," said Christian Ben Hell, Head of the Agriculture Sector, EU Delegation to Ukraine.

The food security situation in Ukraine has been rapidly deteriorating since the February 24, 2022 war, which resulted in the destruction of crops, agricultural and other civilian infrastructure, and disrupted supply and value chains.
