Direct damage from the war as of early November estimated at almost $136 billion

The Kyiv School of Economics has updated its estimate of physical damages from the war. These are exclusively direct documented damages, calculated at replacement cost.

As of early November, the latter amounted to $ 135.9bn, while in September-October the losses increased by $ 9bn.

The biggest increases in these 2 months were in the following areas:

  • energy — up 89% or $ 3.2bn to $ 6.8bn (information on losses will continue to be added)
  • industry and corporate assets — up 31% or $ 3.1 billion to $ 13 billion
  • the housing sector — increased by 4% or $ 2 billion to $ 52.5 billion.

In monetary terms, the greatest damage from destruction of housing was recorded in

  • In Kharkiv oblast — $ 15.1 billion
  • In Donetsk oblast — $ 14.3 billion
  • In Kyiv oblast, including Kyiv — $ 8.1 billion.

A total of 144,000 private and multi-family houses have been damaged/destroyed within the country. The housing and infrastructure sector accounts for almost 2/3 of all direct losses recorded.
