In January–March 2025, China produced 16.02 million metric tons of pork — a 1.2% increase compared to the same period in 2024. The figures were reported by Reuters, citing data from the National Bureau of Statistics of China.

During this period, 194.76 million hogs were slaughtered in the country, up 0.1% year-on-year.

The growth in pork output indicates a stabilisation of the industry after fluctuations caused by African Swine Fever (ASF) outbreaks and domestic market price volatility.
