During the first nine months of 2014 the Chilean pork exports to Russia have increased by 88.8%, adding up to US$74 million, according to the figures of the Pig Producers’ Association (Asociación de Productores de Cerdo, Asprocer). During some of the months of 2014, Russia has been the main destination of Chilean pork shippings, beating Japan, Korea and China, three of the regularly most important markets.

According to the trade union’s data, currently, Russia is the second most important destination of the Chilean pig exports, with a share of 20%, whilst in 2013 it reached 11%. Only Japan, with a share of 30%, beats Russia.

According to Asprocer’s figures, the Chilean pig exports up to September reached US$374 million, which equals a growth by 3.9% with respect to the same period in 2013.
