September was the best month for Paraná pork exports since the Agrostat historical series began in 1997. The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock platform monitors the agricultural sector's foreign trade. In September around 18,600 tons were exported, worth USD 47.7 million, up 9% in volume and 25% in value compared to the same month last year (17,100 t, USD 36.5 million).
This year, the Philippines made its first pork purchases from the State, increasing volumes from July onwards, and in September it ranked fifth among the main destinations. It imported 1,900 t, worth USD 5.3 million. The Dominican Republic also made its 2024 debut and last month purchased 490 t, worth USD 973,000, ranking seventh.
Vietnam has been a regular customer of Paraná since October 2018, but it was the leading destination for the first time, with 3,300 t of pork. In 2023 it ranked third in the month of September, with around 2,300 t. Hong Kong, the main destination in the same month last year with 5,500 t, fell to second place, with 2,800 t.
Rounding out the ranking of the top 10 importers of pork from Paraná are Uruguay (2,400 t), Singapore (2,300 t), Argentina (1,500 t), Angola (486 t), Georgia (481 t), and Liberia (442 t).
