Dates of antihelminthic treatments, which are usually made taking into account the development cycle of parasites, can either be changed due to the lack of the appropriate drug in the farm, or canceled altogether. Given the consequences of helminth infestations, such a step is not justified.
Helminths, passing the cycle of development in the pig's body, destroy tissues of the intestinal tract, liver and lungs. They also release harmful substances that permanently poison and deplete the body of young animals, having a significant impact on their productive qualities. Adult animals have enough defenses to cope with infestation, but sows and boars will still lose vitamins, macro- and microelements, which harms their body.
