In the SP-5 region (Bragança Paulista, Campinas, Piracima, São Paulo and Sorocaba), the cost of live pigs purchased by processors rose by 10.5% between 31 July and 15 August, reaching 8.82 reais/kg (about $1.62/kg).
Positive dynamics were also observed in the wholesale pork carcass market. In particular, in Greater São Paulo, prices for special pork carcasses, which sold more slowly in July, rose by 11.6% in the first half of August, reaching 12.96 reais/kg (about $2.39/kg).
Analysts note that the combination of holiday demand and rising household incomes had a positive impact on market activity, leading to a revival in sales of both live pigs and meat products. It is expected that if demand remains stable, the upward trend in prices may continue in the second half of August.
