In the week before Easter, prices for slaughterhouse pig live stock increased by 5.5% compared to the previous week. The positive price dynamics is reported by analysts of the Association of Ukrainian Pig Breeders.

Lively pork harvesting on the eve of Easter against the backdrop of a weakened supply of conditioned industrial cuttings contributed to further growth in quotations. Thus, most commercial batches of cuttings were purchased this week at 89-92 UAH/kg. As there were occasional slightly lower prices, the average market price tends to the lower end of the range and amounts to 89.2 UAH/kg (+5.5% compared to last week).

Meat processors' assessments of the dynamics of trade before the holidays are mixed. Some of them state that sales volumes are lower than on the eve of Easter in previous years. Others, on the contrary, note a pickup in demand and believe that the decline in trade is consistent with a reduction in market capacity and domestic production. Given this, as well as the start of the picnic and barbecue season, meat processors mostly expect either short-term price consolidation in the range of 90-93 UAH/kg or further price increases in response to seasonal changes in consumer activity with a limited supply of conditioned pork.
