Chairman of the Ukrainian Agrarian Council Andriy Dykun during the V German-Ukrainian business forum "Rebuild Ukraine" thanked the Federal Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz for the support of Ukraine.

Head of the UAC offered his vision for the recovery of the agricultural sector of Ukraine and highlighted its main problems:

  • Prolongation of the «Grain Corridor». In three months the agrarians managed to export 8.8 million tons of agricultural products. It is obvious that we will not survive without the extension of the «Grain Agreement».
  • Allocation of financial assistance to the Ukrainian government to buy back agricultural products from agricultural enterprises. Again I come back to the first point. Since this issue is political, the decision may be delayed, and the agrarians need at least some guarantees and money to prolong the sowing campaign in the spring.
  • Support for farmers whose farms have been affected by the fighting. Our charitable foundation SAVE UA has begun raising money to help Ukrainian farmers. Together with DLG e.V. within the EuroTier 2022 exhibition will be one of the stages of our work to support the war-affected agrarian farms.
  • Launching processing plants. To keep the country and the people in it alive, they must be provided with jobs and jobs in the processing industry.
  • The low value of the agrarian industry remains a major problem. Without support for the sector right now, we can't guarantee that we will be able to get out to seed in the spring.
  • Prolonging the initiative to eliminate quotas on ag products to the UK, Canada, the US and the EU. When quotas and tariffs on agricultural products were abolished in June, more horticultural and processing products were exported to the West than before the full-scale invasion.
