As part of the project «Ensuring Animal Health in Ukraine» in cooperation between the Association of Ukrainian Pig Breeders (AUPB) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has already conducted most of the surveys among representatives of households, pig farms, hunting farms, processing plants, as well as the buyers (sell pork) in the agrifood markets after the double slaughter of purchased pigs).

However, an important component of the study is to understand the challenges faced by the national competent authority for ensuring the control of swine health during the war. To this end, interviews will be conducted with representatives of the main departments of the State Food Service in each region of Ukraine.

At the same time, given that the lion's share of meat products, particularly backyard slaughter, is sold on agri-food markets, it is important to understand the ability to interrupt the chain of disease at the stage of veterinary examination. It is this aspect that will be the focus of the interview with the specialists of the laboratories of agrifood markets.

The Association of Ukrainian Pig Breeders is a non-profit, voluntary organization founded by domestic pork producers. The main objectives of the association are representation and protection of rights and interests of the association farms, assistance in the development and introduction of new technologies for the efficient production of pork, expansion of sales markets, and protection of domestic sales market.
