The last trades of July ended with the recovery of prices in the slaughter pig market, the analytical department of the Association of Ukrainian Pig Breeders stated, citing the results of weekly monitoring of purchase prices.

At the end of July, prices for live pork harvesting changed the vector of movement and began to "win back" the positions lost during the month. This week, most commercial batches of live pork were purchased at 55-56+ UAH/kg. Although both higher and lower prices were reported in different regions of the country, the market average stood at 55.65 UAH/kg.

Pork producers reported higher activity from buyers during the last auction. Meat processors' opinions on the supply available on the market vary considerably.

Although some of them did not have any difficulties with procurement, a number of operators managed to purchase the desired volumes. In addition, some processors noted a decline in slaughter weights, and for some of them, work was hampered by quarantine restrictions due to ASF outbreaks in Poltava and Zaporizhzhia regions. At the same time, representatives of the meat processing industry note that trade has picked up since the stabilisation of energy supply. This, in their opinion, is a signal that the positive price dynamics in the live cattle market will continue in early August.

The results of the weekly monitoring of purchase prices from processors can be found in this section.
