Exports of pork exceed imports for the second month in a row, according to the analytical department of the Association of Ukrainian Pig Breeders, citing preliminary customs statistics from the State Customs Service.

Imports continued to decline, while exports, on the contrary, revived, such are the results of foreign trade in pork in July, the Association of Ukrainian Pig Breeders announced:

"During July, almost 150 tonnes of pork were imported to Ukraine (UKTZED 0203, which is 23.5% less than a month earlier. At the same time, the volume of pork exports in the second month of summer amounted to more than 400 tonnes, exceeding the June figure by more than 36%. At the same time, the total figures of external supplies and receipts are gradually converging: pork imports for 7 months of the year amounted to 1.78 thousand tonnes, while exports amounted to 1.64 thousand tonnes, and in currency terms, the difference does not exceed 10% or USD 0.4 million. USD".

The reason for the relative parity of trade flows is the price situation on the Ukrainian pork market, analysts of the Association of Ukrainian Pig Breeders explain:

"Although in July the average purchase price of pork slightly exceeded the June figure, in general, quotations remain at a fairly low level. This, on the one hand, forms an organic entry barrier for imports and causes a decrease in the average customs value of imported products, which has been "sinking" by 30 cents/kg over the past two months, falling below the two-dollar mark in July. On the other hand, this supports the competitiveness of Ukrainian pork on foreign markets. At the same time, the average customs value of a kilogram of pork exported during the first 7 months of 2024 is lower than the customs value of raw meat imported from abroad - USD 2.45 per kilogram. USD against 2.5 USD. USD respectively".

As for the geography of foreign trade in pork, the UAE remains the main foreign market for Ukrainian pork (85.7% of total exports for the period), while the EU (37.8%) and Canada (62.2%) are the main suppliers of pork.
