In 2025, Chile reached record foreign trade results, and pork strengthened its position as one of the country’s key food exports. Asia became the main destination market, confirming strong demand for Chilean products in strategic global markets.

The year 2025 marked a record for Chile’s foreign trade. According to the Foreign Trade Report prepared by the Undersecretariat of International Economic Relations (SUBREI), the country’s total exports reached a historic high, 7.9% above the 2024 level. This result was achieved in a challenging international environment and was driven by a mix of traditional and non-traditional exports.

In 2025, the food sector generated exports worth $23.08 billion, up 2% from the previous year. This made it Chile’s second most important export sector after mining and reaffirmed the strategic role of food in the national economy.

In 2025, pork ranked fifth among Chile’s most important food exports, surpassed only by frozen salmon, cherries, fresh grapes and fresh salmon. Pork exports totaled $652 million.

The main destinations were Asian markets — South Korea, China and Japan. Together, these countries accounted for 69% of export value and 64% of the total volume of Chilean pork shipments. This export structure indicates the sector’s consolidation in demanding, high-value markets.

Experts note that Chilean pork is competitive on the global market thanks to high sanitary standards, consistent quality and reliable supply.

Looking ahead, Chile’s pork sector aims to further strengthen its international position, diversify export destinations and tap into higher value-added niches amid growing global attention to food security and responsible production.
