Italy’s Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty, and Forestry, Francesco Lollobrigida, expressed great satisfaction with the reopening of the Canadian market to imports of Italian raw hams, including those from areas affected by African swine fever (ASF) in restriction zone 2. Italy is the first European country with ASF cases to receive approval from Canada for the export of products from these regions.

"This is an important success for our production sector and for companies that have faced significant challenges due to restrictions. The result demonstrates Italy's ability to assert its authority at the international level through continuous effort and coordinated work between institutions," Lollobrigida stated.

He also thanked the government, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Minister of Health, and the team involved in resolving this issue for their contribution to restoring this key market for Italian agrifood products.
